Hello!

I’m Katie, I’m a disabled campaigner and creative based in North London. I love houseplants, crispy pints, seeing my friends, cardigans, The Pub, theatre, and many other things.

I’m a disability campaigner with a fair bit of experience highlighting the daily barriers facing disabled people. I tweet a lot and can often to be found going viral after being left on a train once again, or encountering some other bizarre form of ableism.

I’ve worked with several Disabled People's Organisations in communications and campaigns, I’m a member of the Campaign for Level Boarding group, and I’m currently the Campaigns lead at Transport For All. My particular interests are inclusive design, accessible infrastructure, and the intersections of environmentalism and accessibility.

Before I dove into activism, my background was in media and journalism. After writing my final year dissertation on the negative portrayals of disability in pop culture, I graduated and joined the BBC – training up in all things radio on the beeb’s Production Trainee Scheme, before working on programmes across Radio 4 and the World Service and freelancing for indies. Tasked with digging for stories, I’ve reported on everything from the first wheelchair backflip to the anxieties of a forensic pathologist.

Turning my hand to podcasts, I’m particularly fond of the quirky, bewildering, esoteric and human-interest stories, and I’m committed to better representing the voices of marginalised identities. I also make digital content and videos, and have just dipped my toe into the world of Youtube

I like a challenge, so if you’ve got an impossible brief, throw it at me.
